Mediation Fundamentals for Facilitators
April 30 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm MDT
A Six-Week Online Training with Diane Musho Hamilton
Fridays, 9 am – 12 pm MT
April 30 – June 4, 2021
In the last fifteen years, Diane Musho Hamilton has trained facilitators, coaches, and leaders around the world in facilitation skills. An award-winning mediator, Diane Musho Hamilton is offering Mediation Fundamentals for Facilitators because even if you are not mediating in a formal context like a court or dispute resolution center, any time we are facilitating, leading meetings, or supporting group discussions, you engage in moments of mediation, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution. These skills are essential to anyone who works in the domain of human communications and the effort to promote better cooperation.
Mediation is itself a formal process which has a specific beginning, middle, and end. The stages of the process may overlap, and the mediator may choose to delete a step or reverse them. But the basic structure of the mediation process reflects the way in which people problem-solve when they are at their best, which is what makes this skill set so valuable.
In the six-week online program, we will set out the basic building blocks of the mediation process, demonstrating how they can be adapted to work in many different settings.
You will learn about:
— Preparing for a mediation session.
— Settting forth the rules of engagement and signing an agreement to mediate.
— Supporting communications and helping clients in express their positions, wants, and needs
— Identifying issues and building the agenda.
— Engaging in negotiation.
— Overcoming stuckness.
— Coming to agreement.
In addition to the live course sessions, you will receive an exclusive PDF workbook and access to recordings.
This training is for leaders, facilitators, coaches, and anyone who has the intention to build bridges in our present times of intense polarity, complexity, and uncertainty.
Registration will open soon.
